E-scooters are becoming an increasingly popular and eco-friendly way to get around, but did you know that their lithium batteries can be hazardous? Last year, there were 116 fires caused by e-bikes and e-scooters alone.

- Always store the bike/scooter away from your exit routes such as a garage or shed, so if there is a fire you can still leave your home in an emergency.
- Never attempt to modify or tamper with the battery or bike.
- Always let the battery cool before charging, as charging while warm/hot could lead to failure. Try to do this outside.
- Never leave the device to charge unattended, especially if charging indoors.
