Ensuring the security of your home not only helps keep your property and personal belongings safe, but many insurers will not pay out in the instance that you have left your home insecure and an intruder has entered. Therefore, we are giving you our 5 top tips to ensuring security.

Although a full list of security measure is longer, these are the points that we feel are key and easy to implement.

  1. Lock your doors – keep all doors that allow entry into your property locked and secured, particularly at night.
  2. Secure windows – when leaving the homes, it is important to ensure that all windows, particularly ground floor windows are properly closed.
  3. Get a door bell with a camera – there are many ranges of door bells that come with built in cameras these days. This will not only notify you if someone is approaching your home, but the camera will capture who that person is.
  4. Motion sensor lights – setting up motion sensor lights that activate when someone is approaching your home. This will alert you to someone being outside your property.
  5. Keep your spare keys in lock box – secure your keys in a place that only the people living in the property know how to get access to, such as a lock box.
